I applied on 15th February 2010 from VFS, New Delhi. Status changed same day that the application is forwarded to BHC, New Delhi. On 20th February 2010 got SMS that Visa is under consideration at British High Commission. Till now the status is same. Don't know how much time more this is going to take. This wait is killing me.

I apologize if I'm posting my query under wrong subject.

Now that I have got my Tier1 visa, does this mean my existing WP visa is no longer valid ?

I'm planning to go to Europe on Easter holidays or I may go to India too, when I return back to UK, will I be entering UK on Tier1 visa or on my existing WP visa ? Will I be asked to show the chest x-ray etc etc ??

Thanks in advance

Yes your existing WP get's cancelled once you change the visa category to Tier-1, and you will not require any Chest X-ray , this is needed only the first time you enter UK on an entry clearance visa.

This is really strange as they were processing the applications received on or before 22 January

Was the letter the usual acknowledgement letter that you get confirming the receipt of the documents or did you get another letter?

It seems that they are carrying out the verification checks.

Work Permit to Tier 1 in country application timeline

Post by rlpkamath » Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:49 am

Hello all:

my timeline

Jan 21 - Home Office receives application via Special Delivery
Jan 27 - Date on confirmation letter
Jan 28 - Payment withdrawn from my bank account (debit card)
Mar 3 - visa received via regular mail
Feb 25 - date on visa stamp on passport

I'd recommend using special delivery to receive your passport from the Home Office. The week long delay for Royal Mail 2nd class and the resulting stress wasn't worth the £10 I saved!
