hi.. i applied for Tier1 through VFS in India. How are you guys checking the status of your application..? Is VFS site is the only source?? or are there any UK HOme Office sites to check for the status..

I have applied Tier1 with Valid HSMP letter on 13th May. Received the reference number on 14th May. It was written in the letter that don't call before 28days. My current WP VISA is expiring on 29th June. I called them today but they are not saying any status. Did anyone applied at the same time with HSMP approval letter and got approval?

Hello ,
There is no point in calling them when they have clearly mentioned not to call before 28 days. Secondly what ever your status is, you are legal to work until you get a decision on your application.

I applied for the Tier 1 application (switching from workpermit) through a consultant in the UK.

application date: 4th June by courier
I have not received the reference number yet.

I have the follwoing q's:
1. Is it possible to apply for urgent treatment of processing the Tier 1 quicker?
2. Can one apply for a temporary passport and travel outside the UK in case of urgent circumstances, while the Tier 1 is getting processed in the Home office?
3. Has anyone tried personally going to one of the Home office Public enquiry offices to appeal for their Tier 1 application to get processed sooner?


I know its only been a week since I have applied, but i desperately need to travel back home to India in the 1st week of July, and Im wondering if there is any way of getting the Tier1 processed and passport returned, instead of having to cancel/withdraw the application.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My case -
- Print out of the output of the PBS calculator available on BIA site.
- Covering letter
- Filled application form
1. Age: - 20 points
- passports (3 passports, old and new)
2. Qualification - 35 points
- Masters degree original certificate
- Masters original mark sheet
- Bachelors degree original certificate
- Bachelors original mark sheet
3. Past earnings: 40 points

- formal UK payslips and online Indian payslips (signed and stamped on letter head)
--- 2 months in UK (payslip showed only net and gross had to be calculated with an effort). Use only the "net" for consideration.
--- 4 months in INDIA (used the uplift ratio)
--- 6 months in UK

- bank stmts
--- original UK bank stmts with highlighted transactions
--- original Indian bank stmts with highlighted transactions

4. Uk experience
- Earned more than 16K GBP. Asked them to refer to the payslips and bank stmts.

5. English req - 10 points
- IELTS certificate

6. Maintenance funds
- Online bank stmts (same acc as that submitted for past earnings) until 6th May (one day before submissions) with more than 800 + 1600 GBP over 3 months.

Dependants
- Filled dependant application form
1. Passports (all, old and new)
2. Marriage certificate (as proof that she is my partner). The marriage certificate has our photos on it.
3. Online bank stmts again (same acc as that submitted for past earnings and maintenance funds) until 6th May (one day before submissions) with more than 800 + 1600 GBP over 3 months.

Managed to call HO. Currently they are processing applications received on 15th of May.

45 points for UK Earnings.

I applied through an immigration lawyer as my company was paying for it but I would recommend using the BIA assessment tool and applying on ones own without wasting money on an agent.

I have recently submitted my application for the HSMP outside thje UK - in Australia.
Submitted on 4th June
Received 9th June
Payment deducted 10th june with reference number received by email on the same day.
The website currently states they are only doing applications received on or before 7th March 2008!
Has anyone submitted under the HSMP from outside the UK and had it processed within the 5 week SLA?

Any other advice on this would be helpful - this process just seems like a bit of a nightmare at the moment.

I've applied from US under HSMP, app recvd on May 6th, got ref # on 7th, haven't heard anything from them yet ...
BTW what's ur ref #, if it's > 260xxx, then ya probably have to wait for another 12 weeks ... (atleast)

Don't think so. My payment was cleared on 15th May. I have called HO and they are still processing my application.

Processing does not necessarily mean approving.
