Yes I am part of the 26* group... mmm...so 12 weeks possibly huh! Time to settle in for the winter.

I have to say these forums and the other site trackit is really good in helping me see what is going on out there and what others are doing....scary as well - some applications I saw on trackit have been outstanding for such a long period of time...like 100+ days... I think one was over 300 days!

Switching from HSMP to Tier 1

Post by Webcowgirl » Fri Jun 27, 2008 3:12 pm

I have asked my company to support me with an attorney for this and they have just rung saying that there is currently up to three months wait for permits to be processed! This makes me very nervous as my sister is coming to visit in October so we can go to Italy together and I really don't want to ruin her trip. Unfortunately the attorneys have really taken their time getting back to me - I was ready to apply in May!

Wish me luck - I will hopefully have my paperwork to them in the next week. Is current processing time running at around six weeks per what people on this board are experiencing?

Applied 14th February 08, still waiting

Post by mbasmart » Mon Jun 30, 2008 12:44 pm

I was in Pakistan last year and working in a private firm, earning about 89000 Rupees per month. i applied for a student visa, got it and came to UK. here, i applied for hsmp (through a consultant). i've claimed 10 points for age, 40 for previous earnings and 30 points for education (as per naric assessment). i have not disclosed (neither concealed) the fact that i m currently in the UK. my case was received by them on february 14th, 2008. got confirmation/ reference number on february 20 or so. money deducted 2-3 days afterwards. havent got approval as yet (as of june 30th, 2008). anyone else in the same situation? or can anyone comment on the details that i've given hereabove? do you think i should be worried much or do you think this delay is just normal and it should be alright eventually?

Hello all,

I am currently on a WP in UK and had applied for my HSMP from UK in Jan'08 and recd the approval letter also in Jan'08 end... however as I was travelling was unable to apply for the final stamping of the visa... I have now done it on June 10th applied for my Tier 1 with an HSMP approval letter and a Tier 1 dependant application (for my wife)... can anyone guide or provide an idea how much time do such cases normally take and from prev similar cases in how much time have applicants received their passports back...?? any guidance here will be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance... Naresh

Processing from India v/s UK

Post by nirav.shah83 » Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:05 am

A friend of mine recently sent across his application from India. He had done a lot of great research and had an almost fool-proof application.
He got an approval in only 20 days! (and his docs are back)

I have applied at around the same time from UK (although my application is not as robust as his). But we share almost the same backgrounds and I have more UK exp than him.

Though its not been 28 days for my app yet, what amazed me today was the fact that the app from India got through so fast!!
Any idea why??

i think the number of applications received in India is less then number of application in UK and thats why it takes less time....PERSONAL OPINION..

well, i have called HO and they've informed me that my case is still under consideration. they told me that some cases are referred to 'third parties' for further verification etc. and my case has probably been forwarded to some of these companies who are considering it on behalf of HO. the HO doesnt have any control over these third parties and they take their time... I really dont know what to do???

A big congratulations to you. Did you apply from within the country?

I am going crazy because my sister is coming to visit and we are going on a "trip of a lifetime" to Italy (she's about to have a baby and won't be able to travel again for years) ... but I'm worried that I won't have my passport back in time for the trip!

Urgent treatment fax sent: 25th June 08

What are the requirements for urgent treatment? I spent an hour poking around on the government's site but couldn't find it mentioned anywhere ...

I applied for the Tier 1 application (switching from workpermit) through a consultant in the UK.

application date: 4th June by courier
I have not received the reference number yet. :(

I have the follwoing q's:
1. Is it possible to apply for urgent treatment of processing the Tier 1 quicker?
2. Can one apply for a temporary passport and travel outside the UK in case of urgent circumstances, while the Tier 1 is getting processed in the Home office?
3. Has anyone tried personally going to one of the Home office Public enquiry offices to appeal for their Tier 1 application to get processed sooner?

I know its only been a week since I have applied, but i desperately need to travel back home to India in the 1st week of July, and Im wondering if there is any way of getting the Tier1 processed and passport returned, instead of having to cancel/withdraw the application.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Hi Sizzler,

Could you please provide an update about your application ? Do you have some good news ?

Application couriered from within the UK - 3rd of June
Application received - 4th June
Letter with Reference Number received - 6th of June
Called Home office today and they said that the policy is not to tell the customers about the status of the Tier 1 applications unless if 10 weeks have passed.

Guys,

My HSMP will be due for extension on the 3rd of Sep and I am planning to apply towards the end of July or early August.
Can I legally stay in the country if I have applied for an extension 15 days prior to the expiry of my HSMP.

Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

As long as HO receives your application before the expiry of your current leave, you will remain a legal resident until a decision is made on your application.
