[need_a_tier1"]Hello Mate, I am in the same boat as you. I am presently perparing my application and have gathered all the required documents, however I am a bit confused about the following points:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mate

1) Yes u can carry on with ur job based on ur work permit . The work permit and HSMP (Tier 1) teams are completely different for now! Maybe they might merge them when Tier2 comes into law in November 2008.
So u can carry on working with ur current employer as a work permit holder regardless of what the turnout of ur HSMP application is.
Also if ur application is refused this time around , u can always appeal if u have good grounds to or reapply at ur own time n will. There is no problem with that.

2) for ur wife: I think u might have to show a bit more than her passport n marriage certificate. U might need to include some photos of ur wedding, utility bills with both of ur names on (i.e mr n mrs) just to serve as proof of address for her to show that she stays in the same house as you do.
For ur son: I believe those documents are enough ! Just add photos of ur entire family if u can i.e urself, wife n kid.

3) If u have d letter already or if its easier for u to get ..then include it ! do not take chances... but if u dont have it n it might be a pain for u to get it .. then dont bother ! ur certificate wuld do provided the issuing institution is approved.

4) No semester mark sheet required. Just make sure u send an original copy of ur certificate showing ur names and what course n degree u have obtained.

Hope dis helps !

I called again today and was told my application was under consideration, no further information.

I actually sent a fax this morning to request an urgent treatment as my passport is going to expire soon and I need it to apply for a new passport. The guy who answered the phone said if I sent a fax, they would definitely had a look at it but there is no guarantee that they would treat my application as an urgent case.

Not sure if it is appropriate to post the number here. If you call the HO and tell the advisor you need an urgent treatment, you will be given the fax number. Hope this helps.

I didnt think either that it was appropriate to post the number. Moreover, I heard it only slows everyone's processing times due to people sending faxes. It is for 'urgent', not 'impatient' treatment.

You wouldn't want to slow ur application even more by sending unnecessary faxes. I think even calling frequently would affect ur application as all calls are logged.

I can understand where you are coming from but if someone needs a fax number it is very easily available on HO website and moreover its been given out already numerous times on this forum only.

I agree with you on the fact that people shouldnt call HO every other day and send the faxes for urgent treatment, when they dnt really need one. that definately slows down other peoples cases.

Hi jkotha, I haven't got my documents back. Also, every time I enquired the status of my application they refused to tell me. Just hoping that I will get it in 1 weeks time. (reference letter dated 03 June 2008)

This link is for Work permits only. I have already clarified this from HO. And they say, there is no posting on the timelines for Tier 1 (General) in the website.

I asked the same question. The HO person said that there is a sub-category under the Work Permits which is called Tier 1. I was not fully convinced, but had to believe.

My timelines:

Applied for : WP to Tier 1 from UK
Date applied : 16-June-08
Fee deducted/ Ref no. dated : 17-June-08

Still waiting. Since they are processing applications upto 18th now, I am hoping a reply very soon.

Moreover, I have sent a mail to them saying that they should inform me once the application is processed. Then I will arrange for a courier pick-up. (It is because, if they send by Royal mail, no one would be there to receive.) They have forwarded the email to the Tier1 team. I do not know how effective is this.

Has anyone asked for a courier pick-up? If it is not the right topic in the forum where I should post the courier related message, then please guide me.

Good news from my side.

Received a call from the case worker saying that my application is approved. My details are:

Applied for WP to Tier1 on : 16-June-2008 from UK
Appl received and payment deducted : 17-June-2008
Reference letter dated 17th June received on : 23-June-2008

I have not applied for urgent treatment. But I had sent an email to inform me once application is processed so that I can arrange courier.

So I received a call from the case worker today. When asked, he said that the application is approved.

Now I am working on arranging a courier. Earlier I did not realise that the pickup services are so costly (more than £150). Trying to find a cheaper option. MBE.CO.UK is one option, but no idea how much they charge.

Thanks everybody for help. I will wish to continue as a member of this site and help others.

Best of luck.
