Home office holidays on Easter weekend?

Post by inukdreamtier1 » Mon Mar 22, 2010 2:45 pm

Hi All

Could you please confirm whether the home office holidays are same as the public holidays .. If so, I believe they are close from 02 Apr (Friday) till 05 April 2010 , so opening only on 06 April - and the new rule starts .. So effectively any body planning to apply on present rules should apply on or before 01 April..

Am I correct in assuming that public holidays are same for the post (Royal mail)

Do we have any other option (like courier ) and post the application on any of these holidays (from 02 Apr till 05th Apr) and still considered as a valid application ..

I am thinking on a worse case scenario if I wont be able to apply before these days (dependency on some of the documents to come frm India)

according to ukba, your app must be received by them during weekdays and must not be on public holidays, if sent by courier. so that option is out.

check with royal mail, if they are open any of the day in that week... if u even apply on 6 april i think you will still be judged on previous rules unless someone can prove me wrong here

regards

Thanks for the reply

On a different note, do you see a big difference between applying thru Personal Appointment and thru Post ..In other words, do you see any advantage applying PA over applying thru POST (apart from getting it stamped on the same day) .. As I am running out of time, realistically I dont think I get an appointment before 06th Apr (by hearing the difficulty to get an appointment) so the next option is to use a Solicitor which I dnt think I want to , as I believe mine it is a straight uncomplicated case ...

Whats the average waiting period nowadays for Tier 1?

How do the biometrices collected if it is applied thru the post ? (Myself and my wife have given the biometrics at VFS Bangalore as currently I am here in London on Tier 2)

personal appointments are best if you r absolutely sure about your application. It will cost you a fortune to get a date before 6 april and i personally think there will be next to no appointments available before 6 april because of rule change and all.

Postal applications will make you go through waiting period of around 4 weeks from the date of submission and thats the only downside.

so, if you are willing to spend money on top of premium fee to get an appointment through lawyer than its your choice. otherwise submit through postal system.

regards.

PS. always submit with special delivery envelope. its totally worth it as you dont have to worry about your post taking awfully long to arrive even though decision is made.

PPS. there is no biometric requirement for tier 1 main applicant if he is uk already.
