HSMP Extension 1+3+3 Got it

Post by jillsjack » Wed Aug 29, 2007 7:34 pm

Hi All,
I am under the 1+3+1 category. Today I have recieved my passports back with extension upto mid 2012.
Thanks to this board and specially to papafaith for his suggestions.

I came in April 2005, got first extension in april 2006 upto April 2009.
Sent my papers again on 13 Aug and got passports back on 29th Aug with second extension done upto 2012.
I had applied second extension early and beacuse I want to buy a house and lenders have apprehensions about the limited nature of the 1+3 visa.

Claimed Points
Education: 35
Income: 45
UK Income: 5

Evidence:
Letter from Naric
12 Sal Slips
P60
Letter from employer to cover the period not included in P60
Bank Statements of 12 Months

Wife, 2 Kids and Wife Visa Extended till April 2012.

Thanks again to all the forum members.

I provided an IELTS 8.0 Overall band result from 2002 as proof of english.

As for the reason for early application:
I applied with the reason that I want to finally settle here and it is impotant that my family owns a home here and I am finding it difficult o get a good mortage deal because major lenders have reservations about the nature of the limited and uncertain nature of the HSMP Visa and I need an extension which covers a the ILR qualifying time.

Thats pretty cool. I didn't expect that they would add 3 more years to the last end date but just add one more year. Now you have nothing to worry about for 5 years although I would apply for ILR as soon as your eligible.
Well done you!

By the way:
Regarding reasons for applying earlier I did not provide any proof regarding mortage applications etc.
Instead I had mailed home office asking that do i need to give any evidence in this regard and was sent a reply that i do not need to give any eveidence and just a cover letter would do.
I therefore just sent a cover letter and attached the home office email to it.

Yes but they extend it 3 years from a future date, not from 2007 but from 2009. To me that's remarkable

jillsjack Congratulation.

My understanding is that U manage to extend your LTR around 1.5 years earlier. Am I correct ?.

This is actually a break through as up to know the people believe that you could only be able to extend your LTR about 4-6 weesk before the expire of your LTR. It is also written on the guidelines.

Also It might help people in the future. If your income meet/exceed the criteria right now than better U extend it now rather then wait for 2 years later ?.

Have anyone else done/comfirm about this ?

I got my mortgage when i only had my 1 year HSMP visa and not extend it yet, but I had been in the UK for over 3 years at that time, so one lender lend me the money. jillsjack, I think you have not been in the UK for 3 years, and the lenders will normally require further at least 3 years valid visa, but it is good to know they can extend you visa much early. I got 1 + 4 years visa, hopefully they wont ask me to qualify again.

I applied early because the mortgage lenders asked me to give a higher deposit and some straight refused.
I am happy that this gives me two advantages i.e

1. To ask for a better mortage deal. I have just learned today that it would be possible to get a 95% finance on a property valued at 350,000. Not that I am keen on taking out such a large mortage.

2. I will have two years after the five year ILR qualification period to make the ILR application.

There has to be a reason to apply early.
I would advise that you present a good reason for an early application for extension

Hi, herts,

I paid 15% of house value for deposite, the interest rate is lower if you pay more deposite. Normally lenders ask for 10 to 15% for deposite, if you want to get a mortgage your own, that is not easy, and now the lenders are tighten their mortgages. I got my mortgage in May last year, and I hired a broker to get a mortgage, which was a good deal. However, apart from the deposite, you have to pay for the stamp duty and other fees.

Did anyone else applied earlier than the due date of expiry in the passport, like jillsjack. I heard we can apply for extension when it is due something like 4-5 weeks. But now can we apply for extension earlier like 1 year in advance.....if so, from what time do they extend the visa...like does the extension starts from the end date of present visa or does it starts from now itself.....

please clarify.... thnx

Did you send any proof that you are not able to obtain the good mortgage deal...
