Guys,
Just wondering anyone can clarify these: Is money deducted from my salary by employer into pension scheme are considered as my earnings.
PS: this is due to My 2007-08 gross pay before tax is above threshold ironically my 2008-09 P60 gross income before tax is lower than threshold(even after pay rised).
The reason for this: I am in company stakeholder pension scheme. So I will contribute certain percentage of my income to pension and company will match the same. It worked perfectly all right in 2007-08.
Last year company introduced some tax free and NI free scheme, which is they will deduct my pension money first then rest of money will pay tax and free. It did show every details on pay slip. But it looks tax office no longer count my contribution to pension scheme as gross income.
So I ended up with 2008-09 gross income showing on P60 is less than 2007-08. My contribution is 7.5% and only got 5% pay rise compare with 2007-08. And due to this 7.5% is NI and tax free. My gross pay is going down as tax office just wiped out that 7.5% from my gross earnings !!!
I understand HM said about "money paid to applicant as a pension" is not count as earnings. But that money is part of my earnings no matter I am in the pension scheme or not, I am willing to put into pension for my future. But don't know Home office will understand these or not? Anyone can help?
I am only £200 shorter at the moment. Opt out or lower percentage of pension scheme can sort it out very soon. But I was in a big shock when I saw P60 gross income. If they are going to accept that so I don't need to ring HR to opt out pension. Thanks in advance.
