Post-study work visa for students on UK scholarship

Post by shwetajh » Tue Aug 24, 2010 5:08 pm

Hello

I am studying in a UK university right now having been sponsered by a scholarship from UK government. I just wished to know if I can apply for post study work permit? If yes, what are the requirements and the procedure for it?

I am also facing the same situation. My Masters degree in the UK was sponsored by the UK government and they refused to issue a letter of consent for me. If I apply for PSW from my home country, does the letter of consent from my sponsor is still required?

Advise is much appreciated as I have run out of ideas on what can be done. I have already got a good job offer here and my fiance is still doing his PhD in the UK. I want to work here at least until he finishes.

Thanks.

Tier 1 (PSW) policy guidance wrote:39. If the applicant is currently sponsored by a Government or an international scholarship agency, or such sponsorship ended within the past 12 months of this application being made, the applicant must provide us with the sponsor’s unconditional consent in writing to us, giving the applicant permission to remain in or re-enter the United Kingdom. If the sponsor does not give unconditional consent or gives permission for a limited time, we will refuse the application.

Is the consent letter also required if one returns home and then applies for new TIER 4 visa to pursue further studies?
