Changing Authorising Officer rought time frame?

Hello

Just a quick question. We earlier this week had to change our Authorising Officer to our other Level 1 user (as the our original AO suddenly left the company). We were just wondering how long it usually takes for the request to appoint a new AO/KC who was already a user to get approved? Was wondering if anyone else has had to do this in their company and the rough time frame they might of experienced.

Also should it matter that the person is not necessarily a 'senior member of staff'? She does look after a lot of HR of our company and now with our former AO gone, she will be that only person until we can get a replacement in.
