COS job description

Post by PBS123 » Thu Nov 05, 2009 6:30 pm

Hello again

I've got another question, when filling in COS should job title and job description both be the same as what it says in the code of practice document? My job title at work is Java Support Analyst, I examine the issues which our clients raise with the software and I develop a fix in Java. The closest match I found on the code of practice was 2132:
Programmer - Responsible for the detailed programming and testing of individual programmes or routines within an overall project
. So should this be filled in COS or my actual job title and job description which I mentioned above?

Thanks again for the advice.

I would state your job title and then use the nearest code, not re-name your job title to suit the code.

Thanks a lot The Station Agent, how about job desciption? Should this be the same as my job description as well? If so in COS it says "Summary of job description" so 2-3 lines should be ok?

I am trying hard to avoid any possible preventable rejection case as I have read many threads where other applicants have been disappointed due to mistakes.

Thanks in advance

It is the job description in the CoS that is important, it should be a close match to what is in the codes of practice for the particular SOC code. It can be elaborated beyond the text in the codes of practice.

The job title is less important as it is something that is determined by the company and it is to do with their internal organisation.
