Tier 2 Cooling period and reapply

Post by ckayay » Thu Sep 02, 2021 12:00 pm

Hi

I am on Tier 2 General. If I get laid off and can’t find a new sponsor under the new point scheme, I will need to leave the country. Assuming, if I find a new sponsor in 6 months, I may complete the 5 year period for ILR application without a problem?

Regards
CK

There is no cooling off period anymore.

You won't qualify for ilr with extensive absences in ANY 12 month period.

The 180 days limit still applies and you need employer absence letters for ilr

Thanks.
Do you mean that if my Tier 2 is expired and I left the country upto 180 days (6 months) and I secured a new job with sponsorship within this period. Still, I can't apply to ILR? (there is no cooling off period and I am absent from UK under 180 days in a given year without employer letters as my previous Tier 2 license was expired and I left the company)
