Tier 2 ICT Long Term Staff Partner to Tier 2 General

Hi all,

Please help clarify the following information for me:

1.My wife is an Tier 2 ICT Dependent and she has completed her nursing registration formalities in UK now. She has been given an offer from a hospital here as well and she will be given a sponsorship letter for the visa along with the visa payment fees as well.
2. What I need to know is - does she have to return to India to apply to switch the visa or can she do it from here in the UK ?
3.We have two kids who are dependent as well and can we switch their visas from here as well ??
4. Being a Tier 2 ICT, can I switch the visa from here in the UK as well ??
5.What would be the overall timelines to get this applied and to get the visa ??

Can someone please help with these details ?? Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.
I know these are lengthy questions but please do take time and share the details you know.

Need a quick help with a couple of questions ?

My wife is here in the UK as my dependent and her visa status is Tier 2 ICT Long Term Staff Partner, she is an overseas nurse and has got a job in NHS here in the UK and would be getting her COS by next week. Would she be able to apply and switch the visa from the above to a Tier 2 General from here in the UK ??
And if the answer is yes - how long does it usually take ? and can she start working on her current visa till she gets her new visa ??

Already answered when you asked the question in January. No change since then. She must apply from home country.

Thank you CR001. However, while I was trying to raise the Visa online using the UK GOV site and also while I called the immigration number in the UK and checked with them, they mentioned that we would be able to switch the visa from UK itself. Can you clarify ??

1. The call centre is outsourced to a third party and frequently give out incorrect information.

2. Only certain visas and dependent visas can switch within the UK, ICT dependent is NOT one of them.

Switch to this visa
You can apply to change (‘switch’) from another visa to a Tier 2 (General) visa.

You should apply before your current visa expires.

Eligibility
You must already be in the UK under any of the following visas or schemes:

Tier 1 visa
Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa
Tier 2 (Minister of religion) visa
Tier 2 (Intra company Transfer) visa under the Immigration Rules in place before 6 April 2010 and you’re applying to change sponsor
Tier 4 visa - if you have an eligible qualification or you’ve done at least 12 months of a PhD

You can also switch to a Tier 2 (General) visa if you’re:

a dependent partner of someone with a Tier 4 visa
a representative of an overseas business
