When will you know about your fate Rubyracer? Are you furloughed now?
Probably by July. I was furloughed for more than a month but I am back working at risk of redundancy (the consultation period). work have been really good and they will explore the furlough scheme if they legally can. But every business is facing cash flow issues and having to take tough decisions

A friend of mine got redundant about 5 months ago, and he is still looking for a job. He hasn't received any curtailment letter. And once the curtailment letter arrives, it is 60 days from the date of curtailment letter. Most of the cases I have heard or know in person, it take months to arrive so I suppose those who get redundant should stay hopeful and are likely to get a good few months to try their luck!
fingers crossed that's the baseline timeframe.

I got redundant during the lockdown and I have 2 years of work experience in UK. I have been searching for jobs in the past month but no chance whatsoever for engineers with my level of experience. I think the situation for finding a job for a person with 2 years of experience is almost impossible at the moment. Same for graduates who are finishing their course now at Uni. I think the UK gov should definitely consider this almost impossible situation and extend the curtailment remaining time to at least 6 month. I already sent an email to HO (CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk) explaining the situation. I think rules might change if HO receives lots of email from people. Maybe not, but it will take 5 mins.

There is a website with petitions to the Parliament where you can submit or sign petitions to the government. I have signed some regarding Tier 2 for assistance to foreign workers and everyone in our situation.

I am not sure if it's a good idea to send individual emails to that address asking for an extension of the curtailment time.

With the level of stress that people currently have, to be honest I would be scared about getting an undesired outcome like a curtailment letter earlier than planned.

The visa extension is updated to the end of July now. I am wondering if your visa expires at the end of June, and your home country is not imposing lockdown and there are flight there, is there a way to stay by the end of July and find jobs?

The extension is only for those people who cannot travel out of the UK due to restrictions in their home countries.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus ... -residents
Your visa will be extended to 31 July 2020 if you cannot leave the UK because of travel restrictions or self-isolation related to coronavirus (COVID-19).
If you can still fly home, you must leave the UK before your visa expires.

we can create a new petition on change.org. but to get it to parliament it has to have a certain min. number of signatories and I think it is min 100,000.

Hi vtox,

Yes, it was very hard indeed. Thankfully some people including my landlord were compassionate during those months when I was looking for a job. I started a new job just a few weeks before the pandemic, I can't be more grateful.

Regarding the petitions, the website I was talking about is this one: https://petition.parliament.uk/

You can find petitions for everything and they have two stages: 10,000 signatures to get a response from the government, and 100,000 signatures to consider the petition for a debate in Parliament.

Change.org is good as well, and it has the advantage of allowing signatures from people outside the UK. On petitions only UK residents can sign.

Hope it helps.

I think it is a good idea to email or write a letter to the MP of your area. I just did and my MP replied few others already contacted about the Tier 2 visa extension for people who made redundant as an impact of lockdown and covid-9 pandemic

Hi I've not been made redundant but there have been other redundancies so everything is a bit uncertain.

How long has it been for you

In April I was made redundant, but now I got a job and also started to work and visa is under process, Since I dint yet get my cutailment letter I was wondering if that will create any issue for my new application.

It wont be an issue. I got made redundant in 2017 and didnt get curtailment letter before starting a new job.

Home Office sometimes takes a very long time but sometimes they are really quick in sending the letter. As long as you have leave, you are ok
