Tier 2 visa extension and ILR eligibility

Hi,
I had the following query about a visa application for my spouse please.

Case Details
Current Visa: Tier 2(General)
Entry Clearance (visa sticker on passport): 16-Jun-2016 to 15-Jul-2017
Date of entry in the UK: 26-Jun-2016
BRP collected in UK was valid from 22-Jun-2016 until 15-May-2021

The current visa was issued for a duration of 4 years and 11 months.
Does this mean we will have to apply to extend the Tier 2 visa to cover 5 years to be eligible for a subsequent ILR application?

Any guidance will be appreciated please.

The 5 years qualifying period starts with the issue date of your initial Tier 2 visa, 16-Jun-2016. Not the UK entry date.

Yes, I agree.
But that makes the duration of the visa 16-Jun-2016 to 15-May-2021 i.e. 4 years and 11 months.
Do I need to apply for extension of current visa to cover the 5 years?
