Change of name on BRP for spouse Tier 4 dependent visa

Post by Aninn » Wed Feb 13, 2019 6:13 am

Hi all,
I am a sponsored tier 4 student currently doing my PhD. I changed my name to my husbands name after marriage in most of my documents including my Nigeria passport, except my BRP. My husband is set to apply for a tier 4 dependent Visa and then I came across the rule that once there's a change of name , one should inform the home office of this change within three months. I am only aware of this now. It's not three months yet since I changed my name , it's just a month and some days . Please would this affect his application? Do I need to include a covering letter that I would change the name on my BRP after a decision has been made on his application (and since it's not three months yet from the date of name change )...please I need advice on this. Thank you very much in advance

They are separate matters. There is a paper form for reporting your change of name to the Home Office:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... s-form-mcc

For more information, see UKCISA's guide at
https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information-- ... layer-3299

Separately, he applies for a PBS Dependant visa in the normal way.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
