How to go to an IT training school or truck driving school?

Post by calendon » Thu Nov 14, 2019 10:56 am

How do I go about temporarily going to the UK for professional IT training or a truck driving course of less than 6 months ? Does it need a normal student visa? And will the training center assist with accommodation, sponsor and visa support?

Hello

For driving school no. You are not going to get a provisional driving license on a 6-month visa.

For IT training, you can find a school and get support from them for your visa. Some may help you by recommending accommodation options.

It would be a short-term study visa. See https://www.gov.uk/study-visit-visa/eligibility, specifically the "Eligibility" information on which colleges are acceptable.

A short-term study visa does not have a sponsor, but you will need a letter from them confirming the course details.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.

Agreed. It's not technically a sponsor, but still it acts as such.

I helped a girl from my family with that recently. So the steps are:

- Find a school / course
- Pay the course in full
- Get a letter + proof of payment from them
- Apply for the visa

It's not a tier 4 or anything. It's a glorified visitor visa.

- It doesn't allow to work
- The DVLA wouldn't deliver a provisional license for it
- You won't get a national insurance number with that visa neither
