Mother's surname wrong in birth certificate

Post by gprtest » Tue Sep 04, 2018 12:37 pm

Hi,
I am from India. I applied for tier 4 visa recently. My birth certificate has many mistakes. My name is without any surname and slight mistake in my father's name and my mother's surname is wrong. I have given additional documents (passport, aadhar, PAN and school leaving certificate) as relationship proof. I have also attached multiple name affidavits (for all three of us) citing the name issue in the birth certificate.

Will there be a problem? Did anyone had this issue?

A birth certificate is not normally required for a Tier 4 application. What was the purpose of adding it?

It is required as a proof of financial evidence

If you mean you are using it to support money held in a parent's name, and it does not match the parent's name on the bank evidence, that will be a problem.

I advise the parent in question explains the discrepancy in their letter of consent. I also advise that as with any name discrepancy, you add some linking evidence to show that the person named on the birth certificate is the same person named on the bank document, even though the names are different.

Thanks for your reply.

I have written a letter explaining the mistakes in the names of parents in birth certificate and bank statements. Along with that, I have also kept other official documents showing the proof of relations (such as passport and school leaving certificate which have both parents name and Aadhar and PAN which have father's name). Plus, my parents have submitted notarized affidavits stating the discrepancy in their names in my birth certificate.

I tried to get the the spelling mistakes in birth certificate corrected. But it takes lot of time and as I didn't have time I had to submit it as it is, along with other documents and an explanation letter.

Would it not have been much easier for them to simply transfer the money to you?

Actually yes. But, when i realised about it, there was not enough time. That is, the money in my name has to be for 28 days minimum.
