Normally I wouldn't mind waiting for the documents patiently but I got invited to perform a solo concert in a very prestigious venue in helsinki on the 15th of february. I don't want to miss it and the opportunity is rare. I am very depressed at the moment. Also according to the UKBA 'helpline', being a dual passport holder doesn't help.
Got my documents back today so u wil get urs hopefully in this week
Gud luck

I am happy for you. I wrote them a letter last week explaining my situation and asked if they could expedite my application. today I received a letter dated 9th february asking for more documents. So I guess they didn't even touch my application until after I have poked them.

Date of Biometric letter : 17 Jan 2013
Date of Biometric Done : 18 Jan 2013
Date of receipt of documents : waiting
Date of receipt of Biometric Card : waiting

Some background:

I had actually sent in a first application (Sep 2012) which was rejected because I (stupidly) put all my funds in my savings account instead of current account. It took them 5 weeks to reject my application, and they did not contact me at all to ask why the funds weren't received prior to rejection. Surely it would save them effort and time if they had done just that.

So, did another one immediately and got it sent off (26 Oct 2012). Because I did it in a hurry, I hadn't realised that in those five weeks they took to reject my application, there were NEW application forms, and apparently they were in the middle of rejecting my application (10 Jan 2013)! Found out because went to immigration advisory unit in university with my worries. Luckily, an immigration advisor from my university intervened and got in my application using the new forms (sent in 11 Jan 2013). Received my biometrics letter and did biometrics at post office as dates above.

Now, still waiting for my documents to come back.

I'm due to travel on 19 Mar. I can't believe the application was going to be this complicated and UKBA to be utterly inefficient. Feeling absolutely hopeless about the whole situation. I know all I can do is wait really, but thought I'd share my misery. :( :( :(

Money that can be used

Post by amason » Wed Aug 07, 2013 3:52 am

Hi brewing as per the info below, there's nothing wrong with showing money in savings account. I'm sure you are fine.

175. You can use money held in an account owned by you or by your parents. If you are using funds held by your parent(s)/legal guardian(s), you will need to show us evidence that you are related to your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and that you have their permission to use this money.
176. The evidence of money that you use must be of cash funds in the bank (this includes savings accounts and current accounts even when notice must be given), as a loan letter or official financial or government sponsorship available to you. Other accounts or financial instruments such as shares, bonds, overdrafts, credit cards and pension funds are not acceptable, regardless of notice period.
177. The money you show us must be for your use for studying and living in the UK. The full amount of this money – which should be held in the manner specified in this guidance - must continue to be available to you after your application is made, except for any money you

These timelines have all changed and as each case is individual you really can't base your application against others.

Current timelines are quicker because of the new system but it is coming up to peak period.

Please don't assume because someone on this board applied at the same time your visa would be issued in the same length of time. It's really not the way and you should just plan not to do anything until you get your visa.

There's different people involved in each case so you can't compare the workloads between caseworkers.

tier 4 visa delay

Post by ak87 » Thu Nov 28, 2013 9:27 am

Dear Poonam,

I also submitted my visa application on 11/11/2013 at vfs Delhi and today is 14th working day but it is showing that visa application has been forwarded to bhc same as in your case.I think that they are delaying tier 4 category visa at present.
