Hi, I'm helping some Ukrainians leave there cities near the frontline which are being bombed daily. Most of the fighting is the east. The closest airport would be Chisinau in Moldova. There is a VAC centre from where a Ukrainian refugee visa can be collected/obtained. But one Ukrainian told me the best option would be to go to Poland, get refugee status there, and then fly to the UK. I'm assuming this is because it would give them a Schengen visa as well as a British visa. But I'm not sure. Would the refugee visa in Poland become void if they were to then travel on to the UK?
Ukraine is huge so a journey to the west from the east will be lengthy but if the benefits mean the individual gets a cross-Europe visa then it would strike me as being a good idea.
Any thoughts?
