Ukrainian spouse visa application.

Post by woodstock1 » Sat Mar 01, 2014 8:26 pm

Hello everyone, I wonder if someone could help me (again!). A few weeks ago, I asked on this forum about weather my Ukrainian wife would be allowed a visitor visa, of if she would be declined because we are married. Currently we live apart, her in Odessa and me here. We came to the conclusion that we would try for her and my two step children to make the move to Britain. I was unsure about this before because my earnings were below the required amount, we considered exercising my European rights, and living elsewhere for a while, until I was offered a new, better paid job, which I will start in April. As I understand it, this means I have to wait 6 months before we can apply, because of our new money situation. This would be fine, except recent events in Ukraine have added some urgency to our plans/wishes! I wonder, is there any way that my previous lower wages can be used as well as my new ones that are above the threshold? I just want us to live together as soon as possible......

A big thank you to everyone here who takes the time to help others
Si...

The financial requirements say you must earn at the very least £18.5k.

You can prove this by showing 6 months of bank statements or payslips (although you must be in the same job during this period).
Or, you can show the last 12 months of job history showing you met financial requirements, this is good if you've had different jobs. The annual figures must still meet £18.5k before tax.

So, if you have not met the threshold until you start your new job, then calculate how many months of the new job you would need to do before you reach the annual amount of £18.5k and you will find how long it will take until you can qualify.

Won't it be more like £25k pa with two step children?

And the Father of the children? Does he agree to them moving abroad, assuming he's alive? And ISTR you will need a Court Order too to enable the children to leave Ukraine as well.
