Unmarried partner visa application

Post by stuncay » Sun May 28, 2006 10:26 pm

Hi,

Currently I've got a Limited Leave to Remain permission due to my HSMP visa. My partner (unmarried) is doing her Bsc degree in UK so she's got a student visa. Her visa expires at the end of October so we would like to get a limited leave to remain permission for her based on partner status. How can we make this application? is it possible to do it in UK? What are the required documents to prove our partner status?

Thanks in advance.

How long have the two of you lived together?

I think one of you have to be either a British(EU) Citizen or a holder of ILR in UK to apply under unmarried partners category.

In fact I don't think citizens of EU member states (other than the Republic of Ireland) can sponsor under UK immigration rules. Although they may be able to sponsor for an EEA Family Permit, if that permit is available to unmarried partners.

Thank for the replies. We have been living together for six years (approximately 3 years in UK and 3 years in a non-EU country). We both are non-EU citizens. I'm pretty sure that HSMP permits for an unmarried partner application. However, I don't have any idea on how to apply for this.

Thanks All

I don't think someone on HSMP can sponsor UPV.

HO website says:
Your unmarried or same sex partner, may apply to join you in the United Kingdom as long as you are present and settled in the United Kingdom. Settled means that you are living here lawfully with no time limit on your stay.
