Unmarried Partner Visa & Evidence of Cohabitation Qu's

Post by Chris919 » Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:21 pm

Hello,

With regards to applying for an unmarried Partner Visa, whereby you must demonstrate 2 years of having lived together:

Could anyone clarify for me what is deemed to be acceptable types of letters / documentation with regards to giving evidence of cohabitation? The FLR (M) form lists many, but what about types of evidence not listed on the form?

Namely, would an enrollment letter from a (British Council registered) English School in London suffice as proof of address?

Also, we did not live together for a period of seven weeks. She returned to her home country Colombia, whilst I continued to work in the UK to wait for my annual bonus - the day I got the bonus I quit the job, and went to join her & live in Colombia with her. Might this fact be problematical as we were not living together for 7 weeks?

Thanks so much for any advice / answers!

I believe that you allowed up to 3 months gap within the 2 years if you can show a valid reason. i.e not a tiff! :)
But wait for others to confirm. I believe Wanderer may be a bit of an expert on this...the gap that is...not tiffs!! :)

Gaps of up to six months I believe but not two gaps of six months like we had!

The docs should be anything official really, traceable, letterheaded etc, and no photocopies, inkjet printer-type jobbies.
