unmarried partner visa success!

Post by Jhulley » Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:57 pm

Hi there

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped to answer all my questions for this process. This forum has been a life saver.

For those of you who are interested in a time line/list of what we included:

We applied online in January. Dropped off documents and did biometrics in Toronto on Feb 22nd. Application received by Ottawa on Feb 24th. Visa issued on March 5th

We sent:

A letter from our recruitment agencies detailing what work we would be doing and at what pay rate (we both work through reps - he as a graphic designer, me as a teacher)

A copy of our CVs

copies of our professional qualifications

6 months of bank statements

6 months of wage slips

A letter from a friend inviting us to stay with her + a copy of her land registry document, council tax bill and a floor plan of the home as provided by the estate agent when she bought the home.

24 months worth of bills/letters to us jointly and separately (council tax, mobile, water, gas, phone and internet)

Lease agreements for two homes covering the 24 months

Rent receipts received by landlord

4 photos of us together and with our families at home and on holidays

Letters from my mother and his parents

Christmas cards/goodbye cards from friends addressed to us as a couple

Long form birth certificate for myself

Our passports

Thanks again!

Well done and congratulations and on your success and sharing your experience with others in a similar situation.

I must admit getting a visa in US, Australia and Canada, is a lot easier than say in Pakistan, Nigeria etc. :D
