Urgent Help Please!!!

Hi all,

I am asking on behalf of my friend.

His student visa is expiring on 30th of May 2010 and he has yet not cleared his Masters degree. he has to re do it and submit again in september 2010. Now, the College which generally does a student visa extension has said:

"since the dissertation period is without attendance"

(as his all semesters have already been over in June 2009, he got 6 months earlier for dissertation but certain things went wrong and he could not clear it in one go so has to submit again in September again).

they will not get it extended. He knows he will not be able to complete his dissertation and clear Masters on his own without any support if he went back to his home country.

Is there a way out of the situation and to stay here after May until he gets his result declared?

Please advice.

I think your friend should explain the college that he won't be able to complete the dessertation without any support of the tutor. To extend a students visa you have to have a CAS from the college which helps to score 30 points, without CAS the application is clear refusal.

There is a way which generally risk takers use to get out of this situation.. There are certain cases documented in this forum where a student has wantonly applied for his PSW with just a letter from the uni stating that the result would be declared on such and such date.. The student would definitely get rejected but by the time of appeal, he would get his degree certificate and present it before the judge stating that his results have been declared and hence now he has the relevant documents.. just have a quick go through the PSW section of this forum..

Thanks BethnalBlue, he is trying his best to get a CAS letter from the college, lets see if it works.

Thanks PotterBond007, I will look through the forum, however, I am not sure if the rejection and appeal will take upto september/october to get sorted because I guess his result will be out only in October.
