Declaring National Speed Awareness Course?

Post by kellstrom » Fri Nov 10, 2023 5:57 pm

Hi all, I'm applying for SET(M) and had a speeding offense 2 years ago where I was offered the option of taking a speed awareness course instead of getting fines/points on my license (since it was my first and only speeding offense). I completed the awareness course and that was all. Now, I did not declare this on my FLR(M) but looking through the SET(M), I'm not sure whether to declare this under the SET(M) application section on Convictions and other penalties, where there is a particular option: A caution, warning, reprimand or other out-of-court penalty. Would taking a national speed awareness course (offered as an alternative to fines/licence points) count as a caution, warning, reprimand or other out-of-court penalty?

No, there was no offence committed. Ignore this.

Urgent help on when to apply for ILR SET(M)

Post by kellstrom » Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:02 am

Hi all, my first FLR(M) was approved on November 20, 2018 and my second in mid 2021. So, counting from my first FLR(M) approval, the 5-year mark would be November 20, 2023. However, the expiration date on my second FRL(M) is December 17 2023. When is the earliest I can apply? Is it 28 days before December 17 (FLR(M) expiry) or 28 days before I've spent 5 years on family visa (5-year mark is Nov 20, 2023) ? I am panicking because I applied on November 3 2023, since I counted the 28 days from the 5-year mark, instead of from the FLR(M) expiry? Please can anyone clarify on this?

You may not need to panic, not counted from expiry date.

28 days before completing 5years in UK counting from date of initial entry into UK on spouse visa of from approval date if you were already in UK....did you switch to spouse visa while in UK?

@AmazonianX thank you very much, I came in on tier2 visa in 2017, then in November 2018, switched to FLR(M). The exact date that the FLR(M) was granted (the start date on the FLR(M) BRP card) was November 20, 2018. So I assume my 5-year qualifying period is from 20/11/2018 --> 20/11/2023, and the fact that the expiry date of my second FLR(M) being Dec 17 2023 is not relevant in calculating the earliest time of ILR application?

Don't panic, your application date is OK.
