Urgent - New HSMP visa holder - Is Tier 1 required?

I recently got my HSMP visa valid from 15-Mar-08 to 14-Mar-10. Currently I am in Singapore and will move to UK by end of April. I have a job offer too.
Am I now required to apply for Tier1? If so, by when? In case I am required to do so, I cannot get enough points based on my earnings in Singapore. Please advice ASAP

The situation is changing as we watch. Use google for latest news searches & keep checking the government website for the latest guidances.

Us "experts" have to do exactly the same thing right now.
