Urgent Schengen visa question

Hi
my husband who is from Burkina Faso and on a spouse visa with me in the UK needs to get a Schengen Visa to travel to Germany where we are spending Christmas with my family. Today we found out that the earliest appointment we can at the german embassy in London is the 2nd of January!!!!

My question:
1) Has anyone been in the same situation before?what can we do to obtain the visa anyway? Does calling the 'urgent requests' line help?

2) I also have a German passport, but i understand that under German law I am not allowed to have dual nationality. My idea was to go there with my husband and use my german passport, as there is no appointment booking required and he could get the visa very quickly. Is this a good idea? Also, as he is the spouse of a British citizen, would it help at all?

If you were born to a German parent and had dual German/British citizenship when you born then it's ok - is that the case?

There are quite a few germans with dual citizenship.

Does your husband's UK spouse visa directly indicate your citizenship? Why do you think the German embassy will even be aware of your non-German citizenship?

I am also curious what your non-German citizenship is...

Germany consulate in London is slow, slow, slow...

We waited four and half months for a six months residence permit...
