Urgent Travel advice needed from UK to India

Dear Admin member
I have an urgent query about travel advice to India.We are travelling to India in two days and my son who is 12 years old has a British passport which will be expiring in December but holds a valid OCI .Can he travel on this passport as children do not have 1 day premium renewal service on British passport and we need to travel urgently.Please suggest any next steps forward.Appreciate if someone had a similar experience 🙏.We are travelling through British airways.

Your son passport is expiring in December, why do you need to renew now?
