Urgent Travel without BRP

My friend is from India. He got ILR on Domestic violence. He has applied for replacement BRP card due to change of his name and application is in process.
He needs to travel urgently to India for some non emergency situation.

Can he travel using old BRP card and withdraw his brp replacement application. Once he is in India then can he apply for new brp visa?? He will have enough time as he will stay in India for more than 6 months.

Otherwise what is best option for him to do?

He can travel using the old BRP. If there is a name change better to have the evidence at hand. No need to withdraw the application

I was searching online and the information i got was do not travel when you application is in process. I understand it is not leave to remain application and he only applied for replacement BRP card.

it will definitely make no difference to his BRP application if he travel outside UK with his old BRP card which is still valid for 5 years.

A BRP replacement application is not a visa application. Travel has no effect
