L1B/L1A to US without payroll transfer

L1B/L1A to US without payroll transfer

If a UK employer (successfully) obtains an L1 transfer visa for one of its UK based employees to work in the USA subsidiary, is that possible not completing the transfer in corporate terms and maintain the employee working on a UK payroll for the duration of his/her L1 visa, while the employee may carry work in the US for irregular shorter or longer periods of time under L1 in US for the employer :?:
