Post by isauk » Mon Apr 24, 2023 8:26 pm

Hello all,

Hope you all doing good!!

I'm looking for options, to work and live in USA. Checked H1B but the odds, of getting picked is very less(Tried twice no luck ). As the preference id give to the students who did Master's degree in USA.

Holds British nationality, by Birth Indian. I'm in to IT sector with 15 years of experience in various roles in IT.

Director of a limited company and own a property with mortgage.

Please advise me, I'm sure someone here might be in same situation as me.

Thank you in advance

Regards
Mr. BK

US Diversity Lottery.

Not being funny but I know at least 3 guys who won that lottery and left for the US in the last 10 years.

Next opening: November 8, 2023

OP's nationalities are not eligible for a DV lottery. So not an option.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Keep applying for jobs. IT professionals are always on high demand in the US (and elsewhere), and these are the ones who are granted the vast majority of H1B visas.

Indians or British nationals (except those born in Northern Ireland) do not qualify for the DV lottery.

Doing a Masters in the US is not a guarantee that you will find a job after completion of studies. Chances perhaps are higher than those living abroad but it's still very difficult as you probably might know.

I have seen 2 guys getting a H1B visa in the last few years but both worked for a UK branch of a US company then developed relationship with the US management and got sponsored.

I am not sure what are the odds of getting a H1B just by applying from the UK to a random US company.

Firstly, Thank you all for your kind words.

I've heard that E-1 and E-2 essential employee visas are the options to think about. In this category, the one can work for an employer too.. Can someone shed some light please?

Thanks

E-1 & E-2 are temporary (non-immigrant) visas. :!:

You are speculating in the void. E1 or E2 visas are not easy to obtain to start with.

Both require a lot of money. We are talking about a 6 digit sum to invest or to trade. You are not going to do that just for you to try to find an employer in the US.

Thank you Zerubbabei, Then I'm left with only H1B. Is it only luck will help me to obtain H1B or any other source. Last year I've made 3 H1B applications but still no joy :(

If you really want to migrate to the US, I think it would be wise to seek advice from an immigration lawyer practicing in the US.

The US immigration system is different - I would say way more chaotic - than in the UK. In many occasions, it's really hard to find a suitable option for our purposes or even making a successful application without appropriate (professional) legal advice.

What is the obsession with the US - India has a fantastic tech industry.

Once you add up all the healthcare and living costs you won't be saving much.

Haha it's not the obsession, We have a family there hence planning to move.
YES, India is great but it's an entirely different game. I know being an immigrant is tough to survive.
