USA vist

Post by siwiles » Tue Apr 18, 2006 10:00 pm

Hi,

I currently work in the US on an E1 Visa, which expires sept 06.

I am a British national, and want to plan a round the world trip, starting and ending in the UK.

As part of my trip, I want to spend alot of time in the US and Canada.
I plan to enter the US in Apr 07, and want to leave Canada in Sept 07. Probably touring the West Coast, then heading over to fly out of Montreal.

As far as I can gather, I am limited to 90 days in the US on Visa Waiver, and once I exit to Canada, the I can stay in Canada for up to six months, but If I have used my 90 days in the US, I cannot reenter the US, or restart the Visa Waiver 90 days until I leave Canada, USA or Mexico.

I really don't yet know how much of the 5 months I will spend in the US and how much in Canada, but would like to do a bit of both.

As I am based in the US, I can't easily apply for a Visit visa, and will not be back in the UK for long before i head off on my trip.

Any suggestions, on how to best travel around both USA and Canada, preferably without having to spend a long time getting a visa???

Do I have any benefit of already having an E1 visa, although expired. I think I can remain for a year in the US upon expiry, but will be heading elsewhere???

Hi

Please tell me how you found this information - I would like to read more about it:

"As far as I can gather, I am limited to 90 days in the US on Visa Waiver, and once I exit to Canada, the I can stay in Canada for up to six months, but If I have used my 90 days in the US, I cannot reenter the US, or restart the Visa Waiver 90 days until I leave Canada, USA or Mexico".

I have the same situation and I do not want to return to UK, simply because flights are so expensive
