Using Dependent Bank Account for Maintenance Funds

Post by ashehzi » Thu Mar 06, 2014 9:51 am

Good Morning all,

I am planning to apply for Tier-1 2nd extension as I don't qualify complete 05 years stay here because initially I came 04 months late after my entry date.

Anyhow, the question here is "Can I use my dependent(wife) bank account details/statement as maintenance funds for my own extension?" The reason to ask is because I have been transferring some money to her account and we don't use it much, and now i am thinking to apply for extension and thought to ask experts here about their opinion. If not possible, I will wait for my own bank statement to become health enough for maintenance funds and then apply. The question is raised because we want to apply now and save some time and money instead of applying in couple of months.

Regards,

yes in the guidance notes PDF, it does mention about joint account with your name on it, but i asked about using dependent's account name only. it looks like it safe to avoid such scenario.

If the account doesn't have your name, then answer is "No". You can't use any account (be it of your dependent) to show your maintenance funds.
