Using a resume for a spouse visa

I'm moving back to the UK but I don't have a job lined up. I was told that sending my resume would be OK to show that I would be able to get work soon. Is this advice correct?

We have some savings and I have also written a time schedule of how our move will progress.

It will show that you are 'employable' in the profession where you have experience, but it will do little to strengthen the financial side of your application if the rest is weak. The ECO will look for either a written job offer or sufficient savings to support you and your family while you are seeking employment.
The ECO will also be aware that much will depend on where you intend to settle in the UK as some areas have high levels of unemployment.

We have enough money to last for a long time if necessary but I should be able to sort out work quickly. I would just like to help my family settle in before starting work so I'd rather have a couple of months free.

Do they take this into account if you put it in writing with the application?

Are the savings substantial? The ECO's concern will be how long these will last. Have you researched the employment situation in your field of work in the area you intend to settle? Have you checked the current cost of living in the UK..rent, food, council tax, utilities etc. The ECO will be aware of this and will judge your savings against the costs needed to support a family if you don't have employment for a considerable length of time.
