Validity of EEA2 permit when Living in USA for a year on L1

Hi,
I am a non EU holder of a EEA2 valid for the next 5 years.
My husband is a EU citizen, Italian. He has worked for an American company in London for 7 years and he was transferred to NYC on an L1 visa - executive inter company transfer. We have been living in NY for one year and now, we want to go back. I have a potential employer that has given me a job offer but is wondering whether if I am allowed to work or not under my EEA2.
My husband and me we have been together all the time, and we want to return together but we were wondering whether if we are allowed or not.
I haven't been able to find any answers on the web yet with reference to it. Maybe our case is very specific.
