very confused about renunciation of indian Citizenship

very confused about renunciation of indian Citizenship

Hello everyone,

I need some help I have recently submitted my application for renunciation of Indian citizenship and paid the fees of 8000 INR. Now when i am trying to book the appointment for renunciation at VFS goswell I am unable to book the appointment.

I already have an appointment for surrender of passport. When i read some of other threads here i fount out that renunciation step is no longer compulsory so Is it ok if I just attend the surrender of Indian passport appointment?

Can i leave the application which i filled for renunciation and not bother attending the renunciation appointment?

 Hello please can someone help?Renunciation is no more a step for OCI. You can apply for surrendering of passport. Once you receive the surrender certificate you can apply of OCI straight away.

Thanks for your reply. one more small query please. We will apply for surrender certificate for Indian passport this week. After applying for surrender certificate I believe it takes few weeks for surrender certificate come in post but we need to travel to India in 2nd week of October. Can I apply for Indian E-visa using my British passport? or do i need to wait for the surrender certificate before I can travel to India?

E-visa and surrender certificate are two different process
