Time required to process Schengen Visa

Hello experts,

I need to travel to Luxembourg on business in last week of Jan 2014 so I need to apply for Schengen Visa. But the problem is that I have H1B stamping on 28th Dec and I will get back the passport on 1st or 2nd Jan. After that if I apply for Schengen Visa will I have enough time to get it stamped by 10th Jan?

One more option I have is to apply for Schengen before H1B stamping (28th Dec) but I am not sure if I apply for Schengen now than will I get my Passport back by 28th. So I dont want to take that risk hence want to apply for Schengen after getting H1B stamped.

Please suggest what should I do.

Unlikely, especially at this time of year.

Applications usually take weeks and at least one visit to the Consulate in London.

Maybe find an expediter?
