Work Permit Delay for Denmark

I am a graduate student from the US currently waiting on my work permit for an internship. I am in Indian citizen who applied from New York almost 3 months ago. I am always told there is a system-wide delay. I have already missed my start date because of this delay. Is anyone else facing considerable delays in their work permit applications for Denmark? The maximum processing time for the AR1 is supposed to be 1 month or possibly 2 months in my case because its for an internship. I find it hard to believe that they Labour Agency in Denmark is frustrating employers all over the country! Just looking for feedback on previous experiences with Denmark and other facing this experience.
