Travel to the UK without your spouse

My husband is a Southwest Afrikanen nationale. I'm a Belgian national. He has an article 10 residence card issued by Belgium. He needs to travel to the UK for 1 day ( job interview for a job in Belgium). Do I need to accompany him or can he travel alone on his residence card and valid passport? It seems so stupid that I have to fly as well if he is coming back to Belgium the same day. Does anyone have the answer?
