NO HOME...non EU immigration to France, seeking nationality

Post by shay » Mon Nov 12, 2007 10:52 pm

ANY advice WELCOME!!

I am a 25 year old US citizen who left the US when 14 to live in UK, first as dependent then on student visa. finished university there this spring but have no chance of obtaining permanent residence as left country for long periods to travel in Europe. My parents have been retired in France for 3 years and after numerous visits I am much at home there and would like to earn French nationality.

I CANNOT live in US again.

I am looking into studying French at a university there for a year, two if absolutely necessary.

--Can I apply for jobs/work visas before my student visa would expire?
--Can i even work part-time with a student visa?
--What other routes for nationalisation could i consider?

While my parents are financially comfortable, my aspirations of self-sufficient small-hold farming do not make me a good candidate in the government's eyes.

--Is there any way my parents could help, even if it's just a temporary transfer of money to prove my financial independence?

lots of questions, but just being pointed in the right direction for when time bought with student visa expires would be a TREMENDOUS relief...

Your questions can be answered here: http://www.campusfrance.org/en/a-etudier/etudes01.htm

I think your parents can help you financially, but in terms of immigration, you'd be too old to qualify for any other assistance (dependent's visa, sponsor, etc). Where do you currently live?
