Dependent parent of British citizen

Post by chrissmaster » Wed Mar 23, 2016 5:31 pm

To whom can be of help/advice:

I am a UK national in Britain and I have a Peruvian parent(her nationality admitted into schengen now) in Peru. My idea is for her to reunite with me as a dependant of a European citizen(myself).

My questions r the following:

Is it better to travel together & if so do u make clear to the border staff that she is coming to reside there longer than 3 months(or does she enter as a tourist before starting residency procedure upon entering?)

Do my remittances to her have to be from Spain to Peru only or can I merely show the ones posted from Uk to Peru(with English translation?)

Must I have lived in Spain for at least a year before commencing the process?

What is the level of difficulty for this type of process?(this has troubled me for sometime)

Any word of advice would be of great assistance: )

yours sincerely

CHRISS

To avoid confusion & jumbled responses, I have moved your question to its own thread (this one).

If you are a UK citizen living in UK you will have to relocate your centre of life to another EU/EEA country for a while.
Take your dependent parent to live with you there.

On your eventual return to UK (if you decide to return) you will be treated as an EEA national and so will be able to sponsor your dependent family member into the UK under EU rules.

This is called the Surinder Singh route - plenty more to be found on this matter in the forum (and if you google WWW).
