Schengen visa expiry date query

Hello,

I just received my Schengen visa, which will cover me for my first trip, but only partly for the second trip.
Would it be ok to apply for another schengen visa to cover me for my second trip even though there is an overlap of validity?

e.g Schengen visa currently valid up to 6/1/24, needed validity from 24th December 2023 - 14th January 2023.
