Most EU countries are in Schengen area.
When you get a Schengen visa from a country, you can travel around Schengen area (subject to visa conditions), no need to apply for individual one.
For example, I got my Schengen visa (issued by France) which is valid for a year - I can go to any Schengen country (Spain, Germany, Iceland, etc) with this visa (abiding by viss conditions like 90/180). It's not a guarantee of entry, of course, but as long as you have all the documents, you're okay.
Also first few Schengen visas might be for a short period of time/single visit, until you build up your visa history, so you can start now.
In short, apply for a visa to your first country of destination - if this country is in Schengen, you'll get a Schengen visa. If it lasts enough for your next trip, great, if not - rinse and repeat.
