Home office's new aproach on EEA applications.

Post by DFDS. » Sun May 24, 2009 5:46 pm

Hi guys, i would like to exchange some ideas with you all, concerning the latest anouncement of HO regarding EEA applications.
On thier website, HO now makes it very clear that with effect from the 1st june 2009, they are rejecting any EEA application submited without all original supporting Doc's.What does this mean? Previously, HO has been accepting applications even when some supporting Doc's have been missing. In other words the application would be valid, as long as one explained the reasons why some Doc's where missing, & that such Doc's would be submitted in due course of the appalication.

There are cases where applications have been submitted with out even the applicant submitting any form of ID. Now that HO will no longer accept such applications as being valid, they have targeted a good number of applicants in a certain catergory i do'nt want to mention here.

What do you think?

Many years ago (before 2005) it took only three weeks to process applications under European law. With that sort of turnaround times it is reasonable to ask people to send original documents immediately with the application.
Under the current circumstances (processing times well beyond the legal limit of six months), however, it is outrageous! Nobody can be without passport for so long. Let HO first get their own act together (for example no longer asking for so many irrelevant details and documents) before increasing the burden on applicants!
Furthermore, if EEA1 applications can be decided within a day when you apply in person in Croydon, why should postal applications take so long?
