I found following information on the website of the French consulate in London:
"The foreign spouse of a EU national (except French national) may enter France without visa if they are holding:
a valid travel document, i.e. a passport;
a valid UK residence permit with the endorsement "family member of EEA national";
and if they are meeting up or travelling with their EU spouse.
However if you do not satisfy the above conditions, you will need to apply for a visa to travel to France (for instance if your residency is not explicit or if you are travelling to France for business). Note that children and parents of EU Nationals still require visas to travel to France."
According to the website the law started to be applied in March 2009.
My question is: do the French immigration officer at the border know about this??? Or is it just diplomatic blabla and they still require visa from everybody? How long could he then stay? Does anybody know?
Can my non-eu husband buy a ticket for Eurostar and enter the border? What else does he need? Hotel booking? No invitation letter? I live now in Belgium due to work, but they require so many documents the copies of which have to be certified (I wonder where) that I think we give up.
I read in other topics that if one goes by Eurostar they suggest to apply by the French Embassy. If I do not live in France, do I have to go to France to meet him or I have to come to the UK to accompany him?
Or can we meet in Belgium???
I am due to be operated soon and I really need his help by the recovery and childcare. So what can I do?
Thank you for any advice
