Kiwi with Spanish Residency card heading to Germany!

Post by pth » Wed Jul 13, 2005 11:35 am

Hi Guys,

I love the diversity of this website - it really shows all the combinations and permutations of life!

I have a New Zealand passport and have been living in Spain for three years (married to a Spanish) - and have a Spanish residency card.

I have been offered a job in Germany and wonder if I can automatically work there or need to go through the porcess of getting a work permit? Can anyone advise please ?

Your Spanish spouse also moving to Germany? To work?

If so you would be entitled to a German-issued EEA Familiy Permit and that would give you the same rights as an EEA national, including the right to live and work, and indeed work without a Work Permit.

Not sure about Spain but most of the EU countries will allow a (Permanent) residence Permit holders to switch to another EU country from early next year.

Sweden is already in the proposal stage http://www.sweden.gov.se/sb/d/5314/a/40887

Unfortunately UK, Ireland and Denmark has opted out of it.
