I need to know what the what I need to get a visa to visist brussels. I'm a South African citizen, but I have family living ovet in Brussels.

Lee, according to :-

COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) No 539/2001

-: South Africa is included on the list of countries in Annex 1 whose nationals need to get a Schengen Visa before entering any Schengen area country ... and that includes Belgium.

Accordingly you need to contact the Belgian embassy there in South Africa and apply for and get a Schengen Visa before you make your journey. Lots more information at :-
