NON-EU: which Residence Permit allows to SEARCH for a job?

Post by adabreu » Sat Mar 05, 2011 11:12 pm

Hello there,

Me and my boyfriend want to move to Germany, we currently live in Venezuela. I am EU Citizen, he is not. I can move there, search for a job, no problem, but we wonder what his possibilities are?

1- as a tourist, he is allowed to stay there 90 days, but not to search for a job.
2- the Residence Permits (für Erwerbstätig) have a job contract as a requisite. As far as I understand.
3- we dont want to marry, but we have lived together since some years now. We can issue a "partnership" certificate (in spanish: Concubinato), does Germany grant Residence to partners? if yes, what are his rights.
4- any other idea? (that does not imply to marry)

We are both IT specialists, so I guess it wont be that hard to find a job, but the form here, it is impossible.

thanks a lot for the advices..

The German Freizügigkeitsgesetz/EU (section 3) does not seem to recognize durable relationships so either he qualifies for a residence permit in his own right or you marry (which would give him the same rights as you).

Hi 86ti, for him to apply for a residence permit, has he to show a job contract? or could he apply with the intention to search for a job. Once living there, I could sponsor him, with krankenversicherung and other needs.. would that help to get his residence permit?
