What kind of visa are you applying for?
What is the citizenship of each of you?

I am applying for tourist visa and i hold uk work permit. I can't take my wife to embassy because she needs to take care of a infant at home.

Hmm... I notice it time and again: when asked about their nationalities, people either avoid answering the question, or say they are from Africa, Asia or whatnot. Very strange. Are you folks ashamed of your nationality? :? It just happens too frequently.... On the other hand, how do you think the forum can help you if you conceal your nationality. Very odd.
Agreed.

londonprince (and all others reading this), please do remember that visa requirements vary according to nationality. For example, if you are (as an example!) an Ethiopian national, they may require all Ethiopians to attend an interview, whereas if you are an Indian national, they might allow you to do your spouse's passport with your own and s/he would not have to attend. If you are an international marriage, e.g. Indian and Chinese, the requirements may be different for each of you.

So it really is important to tell us your nationality, so that we can provide a better answer. :) Please note "African", "Asian" or "Eastern European" aren't citizenships.

I also would think you both need to go. If the baby is also applying for a visa, then the baby should go as well.

But Sakura in your previous post you said

"Indian national, they might allow you to do your spouse's passport with your own"

and also i heard if you send your passport through a travel agent you dont need to attend an interview. if that is the case why can i submit documents on my wife's behalf. I tried calling French embassy using premium number and email them requesting for an answer none of them were helpful. Is there any other way i can find out an answer ?

I didn't put it like that. You're reading pieces of my statement! I put (using bold here):
For example, if you are (as an example!) an Ethiopian national, they may require all Ethiopians to attend an interview, whereas if you are an Indian national, they might allowyou to do your spouse's passport with your own and s/he would not have to attend. If you are an international marriage, e.g. Indian and Chinese, the requirements may be different for each of you.
I was using examples, not the actual requirements. Also, I didn't know you were Indian nationals when I wrote it.

The information about whether or not to attend is generally available on their embassy website, but I cannot seem to access it right now.

When an interview is required, most european countries require each person who is applying for a visa to attend the interview.

Had you previously had a Schengen visa? Where do you live in the UK? And I am curious how much the CIBT service cost you...
