EC, providing evidence for source of Funds for initial stay

Post by CH » Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:14 pm

Is this necessary to provide an evidence of amount you are having for initial expenditure in UK?
Secondly, what is the minimum recommended amount that one Single Applicant must have before lodging EC Application?

YES! Have some bank statements, deposit certificates, etc handy.

As for amount - I guess it varies by case. They are looking for sufficient funds for you to get on your feet. I was advised to have about GBP3,000 available, but it could be a little less if you have letters from family members in the UK saying you will crash out at their place. Regardless, more money, the merrier.

Thanks for your reply,
Some people are suggesting me to keep the funds atleast 15 days in bank before applying for EC. Do you find it compulsory ......

I would call it practical... You do plan on taking the fund with you though, right? Things can get pretty expensive, and having 3,000 or so is a good safety option just in case...
